I’m pretty sure it wasn’t much more than a year ago that Claridge was boasting ‘Ottawa’s tallest condo’ with the introduction of their Icon building. It seemed like old Claridge was relying pretty heavily on the ‘tallest building’ claim for their marketing push (let’s be honest, they couldn’t be relying on their ‘thoughtful design’ ;-)). Richcraft apparently doesn’t want Claridge to have all the fun, so they’ve decided to one-up them with the new, even taller building proposed just up the street on Carling.
This new Richcraft condo tower is scheduled for 55 storeys, 10 storeys above Claridge’s Icon. The development will have 3 towers total, with the main tower accompanied by a 2nd tower of 45 storeys, and a 3rd tower of 18 storeys. Apparently the condo market in Ottawa is not collapsing anytime soon (unless Richcraft and Claridge have not done any market research whatsoever, at which point I suggest waiting until the place is built and there is ton of inventory leftover, and prices drop dramatically. but I don’t see that happening).

It would be kind of fun if another builder waited until the day this condo goes on sale, and then proposes a 56 storey building right beside it
