Good morning, Ottawa!

So, probably best if we refrain from tearing into the NCC and their questionable actions over the years, and instead focus on the positive here: they are finally asking for the people’s help.

Lebreton Flats has been a bit of an eyesore for many years, and now finally the NCC is asking for help from the private sector.  Of course the answer from the majority of this city, aside from Kanata, will be to move the NHL stadium down there (something that most feel should have been done in the first place).    The area does need an anchor ‘institution’, and they suggest maybe a library or a museum.   Unless you’ve been cryogenicly frozen for the past 100 years, and just woke up to read this, then you already know that a library or museum just won’t be a strong enough draw for the area (aren’t we in the internet age?  Are library’s still in existence? :-)).    If their goal is to drive people away from an area, then yes, a library or museum is a great idea.

Maybe if everyone pushes hard enough through social media and other avenues, the NCC will listen, and figure out how to get the stadium brought downtown where it will be a huge success (or maybe I’m dreaming…).  Either way, this appears to be a step in the right direction, and it will be interesting to see how it goes.  I encourage everyone to post comments and make their voices heard on this topic 🙂

Seriously though, a library or museum??
