Ottawa’s art gallery and Arts Court is about to see some big changes. Montreal-based developer DevMcGill, has recently announced the upcoming residential component of this grand development, the Arthaus Condos.

ARTHAUS OTTAWA – BYWARD MARKET CONDO HOTEL DEVELOPMENT
Situated in a very central location in the Byward Market, this exciting new project is a joint venture between DevMcGill, The Ottawa Art Gallery, Group Germain, the City of Ottawa, and the University of Ottawa.
The building is slated to be hotel on the lower floors (Ottawa’s first Le Germain Hotel), with private residences on floors 15 and up. The plan will also see the expansion of the OAG and Arts Court onto the vacant city-owned land at Daly and Waller, along with a 64,000 square foot theatre which will be operated by the University of Ottawa.

ARTHAUS OTTAWA – EXTERIOR RENDERING
The redeveloped space also plans to include a 250-seat multi-purpose and film screening room, as well as a new 120-seat theatre and 4 classrooms for Ottawa University.
It also sounds like the architecture and design will be quite cutting edge. The developers have partnered with Regis Cote, Barry Padolsky Associates Ind./KPMB Architects, design firm Union31, and TradeUp Real Estate. According to Regis Cote, ‘the suites will have unobstructed views of the city on three facades. The suites are well-designed with fluid and flexible open concept floorplans to ensure efficiency in everyday living, and feature ultra-modern architecture with sleek, clean and minimalist lines along with the finest features and finishes.’
