The rush to build new homes and condos doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon here in Ottawa. EQ Homes has just launched ‘Greystone Village’, a new riverfront community offering various residential home options, along with retail shops, a plaza, boulevards, and more.

Everyone loves my opinion, so here is what I think of this massive development.
The location is excellent, in a prime spot off Main St in Ottawa East surrounding St Paul’s University (does anyone actually go to that University??). The land fronts on the Rideau River (I’m sure you’ll be able to launch a kayak, canoe, or SUP board somewhere over there, although they have not promoted that option anywhere), with excellent bike paths all summer, and you can cross country ski on the river in the winter (disclaimer* make sure the ice is thick enough) . It’s also a very short walk to the canal (world’s longest skating rink!).
So I like the location. Now, to address the homes that are being offered. The houses look good, with some attractive designs for single families, and townhomes. There is an ‘association fee’ which does appear to be reasonable; estimated $121/month (expect that to go up soon after its completed). In my opinion, there are some good options here, and they will perform relatively well as an investment (especially the detached homes).
As for the condos, well, they’re okay. Let’s just say, I like some of the penthouses :). Most of the other units were fairly generic, outdated, shoebox-style floorplans (sorry, eQ Homes, but I have to be honest here).
All in all, a very cool development, in an exceptional location. It’s an excellent addition to Ottawa, and provides some very high-end options for anyone interested in a new home downtown.
This development appears to be selling well, and I believe there are some very good opportunities here for both live-in owners, and investors. For more information, floorplans, pricing, etc, you can contact me at: Contact Chris Steeves Now!
